Today I was at Yehia Khalil's !!
It's been about a month since I had a Jazz break. I believe Jazz is my life blessing, apart from some Sinatra that filled my time gaps during the past days. Khalil showed up in his usual outfit that gives you the feeling he's just back from the gym. It's just few seconds then you find him fighting from behind the drums, yelling here and there...One Two Three Four, then the orchestra returns back to it's theme tune. I did enjoy his extraordinary drumming style, in a marvellous fusion with the Qanun, Violin and Saxophone. Other members weren't that professional, however I was satisfied :)
It was Yehia Khalil's night, however it was 7akawy El 2ahawy's too !! Khalil played (7akawy El 2ahawy) twice in two different modes with different styles.
7akawy El 2ahawy...a masterpiece :)

أنا أعترض !! D:
Safa, thank U for leaving a comment. But let's define Jazz, it's all about free-styling where every performer tries to fly away a little and then a definite theme connects the band again. Ye7ia Khalil as a drummer, he's perfect at free-styling in a pure western style, and the best thing about him is being able to "innovate" new forms of playing the drums.
Finally, Khalil is regarded as the Godfather of any Egyptian Jazz, that all appeared after he tried to introduce this music to Egypt. You should have seen him when awarded the Cairo Jazz Festival award a year ago.
That's what I see. At the end it's people's taste :)
هي فعلاً أذواق .. على العموم أنا كنت بقول رأيي بس :)
i like it :)
